What is Community First?

·        Community First is an England-wide programme, funded by the Office for Civil Society, on behalf of the Government

·        Two funds of money, worth £80m, have been created to help communities come together, become more resilient, and make their local area a better place to live

Moss Side Community First Panel: Moss Side is one of 600 areas that has its own panel, comprised of local people to represent their community. They will be involved in creating a plan for the area, raising awareness of the funds, and planning how they will match and spend the money.

What does this mean for you?

·        Money is available to fund community projects in Moss Side, Manchester. You can apply for a grant from a minimum of £250 to a maximum of £1,000 per year

·        The programme will run until March 2015 and funds will be available during that time

·        It is a matched fund programme, which means that every £1 provided in funding must be matched by a similar amount or in-kind donations (this means donations of cash, services, free products or volunteer time)

Can I apply for funding?

·        If you can demonstrate that you are a formal community group either through a constitution or terms of reference and a bank account. Your project must also meet at least one of our aims - an update on the aims will follow shortly.....
